500 Error when Checking In/Out Wednesday 2nd October 2024 15:46:00

Hello! We are aware of an issue in 24.05 that is a result of: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=37892

This bug manifests in three ways:

1. Prevents checkins from the affected patrons ("The item has not been checked in due to a configuration issue in your system")
2. Prevents checkouts to the affected patrons (500 error)
3. Affected patrons are prevented from logging into the OPAC

The current workaround for this issue is to:

1. Go to your patron categories in Administration > Patron Categories
2. Take note of the current configuration of patron categories, particularly who can be guarantees
3. In each category, change the "can be guarantee" setting to "no"

This will preserve your current guarantor/guarantee relationships, but will prevent you from creating new ones. Once the patch for the bug arrives, you will be able to restore your original settings.
